Scout
2-Day Course

From fundamentals to flow — execute under control.

You’ve built the foundation. Now it’s time to run the system.
Scout is where shooters move beyond basic mechanics and begin learning how to perform under pressure. You’ll take the fundamentals developed in Pathfinder and apply them through structured drills that introduce cadence, decision-making, and real-time problem solving.

This course isn’t about shooting more—it’s about shooting with purpose. You’ll work from the holster, learn to manage recoil at speed, and begin handling reloads and malfunctions without breaking focus. As the pace increases, you’ll discover that accuracy doesn’t come from slowing down—it comes from maintaining control while everything else speeds up.

Through guided instruction, repetition, and light competitive pressure, Scout builds the ability to stay disciplined, think clearly, and execute consistently. By the end of the course, you won’t just understand the fundamentals—you’ll be able to apply them when it matters.

What you’ll learn

  • Draw Stroke Fundamentals: Safely and efficiently present the firearm from the holster with consistency and control.
  • Controlled Cadence: Manage speed without sacrificing accuracy by understanding sight return and recoil timing.
  • Reload Mechanics: Perform smooth, deliberate speed and tactical reloads while maintaining awareness and control.
  • Malfunction Clearing: Diagnose and resolve common firearm stoppages quickly and safely without losing focus.
  • Shooting Under Pressure: Apply fundamentals in real time through structured drills and light competition.

Must be able to safely handle a firearm and follow instructor commands with an open mindset and willingness to learn

Students must arrive with their own
firearm, ammunition, holster (if applicable), and eye/ear protection. MVTS does not offer firearm rentals or loaner equipment at this time. If you have questions about gear selection, we’re happy to help you prepare.

We welcome students who have built their fundamentals through
any legitimate training source. MVTS does not gatekeep this course behind our own classes. However, Scout is not suitable for those whose only experience comes from casual shooting or online videos. Students should arrive with real, hands‑on foundational training so they can safely progress into structured drills and increased accountability.

Participants should be physically capable of
light to moderate activity, including periods of sitting, standing, and basic handling of equipment. Training includes a mix of indoor and outdoor work, so please dress appropriately for weather and terrain. We work with you — not against you — and will meet you at your current skill and comfort level.

Training Approach

Scout builds on the foundation established in Pathfinder and begins shaping those fundamentals into a reliable, repeatable system. The focus is on disciplined execution, increased accountability, and developing consistency under mild pressure.

Students work through structured drills that reinforce safety, accuracy, and efficiency while introducing standards that prepare them for more advanced future classes.Instruction is direct, deliberate, and student‑focused. Every repetition has purpose.

We emphasize clean mechanics, responsible gun‑handling, and the ability to apply fundamentals with intention—not speed for its own sake. Scout is where students learn to trust their process and begin operating with greater confidence and control.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS

Safety is the highest priority at Mountain Viking Tactical Solutions. All students are expected to follow instructor directions, maintain awareness, and uphold MVTS safety standards at all times. Any unsafe behavior, reckless conduct, or actions that endanger others will be addressed immediately. Safety violations on the range will result in dismissal from the class with no refund. These standards protect every student, every instructor, and the integrity of the training environment.
